title of today's boards, in principle, determine its contents. For those from the 2000 disc you will find a small guide to all styles of modern jazz piano. Eliane Elias does not have any particularly brilliant technique. It can be a draw handfuls of the rich musical heritage tradition, adding a bit of own ideas and giving the whole a remarkably coherent character.
It was the most unexpected feature of today's boards. Despite the recordings with two completely different rhythm sections, and a few songs with the guitar. On this record, we find the classic jazz repertoire, often deprived of Brazilian notes appearing in the recordings of an artist who comes from that country. There are compositions by Charles Mingus, Dizzy Gillespie and the classics of American songbooków - George and Ira Gershwin songs, Cole Porter, Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne and others. There are introductions and all the songs composed by Eliane Elias. In several works, Eliane Elias also takes advantage of his vocal capabilities. This is much weaker than in playing the piano, so these exercises should be given only with friendly curiosity as the possibility of coloring the difficult formula piano trio.
The piano is capable of anything. There may have virtuoso technique, but certainly a great knowledge of jazz history. In the game you hear the notes a bit archaic today stride piano, is a lot of swing, comping, walking and a great left hand, which is a weakness of many jazz pianists, is its own harmonic ideas. In interpreting the hackneyed in all the ways the standards of the type I Fall In Love Too Easily, Alone Together, or Woody 'N' You have in each of them something personal to say.
whole is balanced, emotionally economical and pleasant in everyday use. It's the kind of jazz that you can show your friends who run away from jazz. This is not music trivial, but quite easy to digest. Somewhere hidden beneath an original interpretive ideas.
Each of the rhythm section is definitely different. Marc Johnson (bass) and Jack DeJohnette (drums) - is a typical section of the accompanying piano, acting with perfect precision as a professional drummer metronome, and leaving all the inventiveness of the executive in the hands of the soloist. Second team - Christian McBride (bass) and Carl Allen (drums) is completely different. Chcistian McBride playing solos, leaving Carla Allen, in turn, somewhere in the background, while in most of the tracks equal partner with Eliane Elias.
This album is consistent, a good piece of piano craftsmanship. Nice and light, though not without a second floor for connoisseurs. Not everyone has to be the strength of the original. That means listening to the album nicely, though certainly not easy to break out in a crowd of other such production. Today's album deserves attention. It is so usual, relaxing and enjoyable. It does not create a new quality because they do not have to. There is simply for our pleasure.
